The project focuses on how language can act as a tool of authority and power in culture. I took Chinglish, a hybrid product of post-colonialism, as start point to observe its function and symbolic meaning in the context of Chinese politics, culture, education, etc. Through images, posters and installations, I juxtapose the product of Chinglish in different contexts, and feel the relationship between visual and verbal intentions, and between words and representations. Feel the cultural hegemony and local struggles hidden behind the heterogeneity of culture.
